My boyfriend went to the dermatologist today and was dianosed with molluscum contagiosum, we have been together for 4 years now and neither of us have cheated on each other. After we started looking it up on the internet to figure out what it is and other possible ways he could have gotten it besides through intercourse. I saw a picture of it and I do have something on my pointing finger, thumb and middle figure that i get every so often and to me it looks like little blisters and they do pop and it has a clear, tacky subtance that comes out of it, could that be molluscum contagiosum? It appeared on my pointing finger a couple of years ago when I worked at a retail store and spread to my thumb and middle finger but thats it? Please help me put this all together.

Hi,
Molluscum contagiosum can be transmitted without intercourse too.
What you are describing does sound like molluscum contagiosum, though it can be difficult to be sure without an actual examination. A mild case can disappear without any specific treatment too.

Reply to Gaurav Gupta's Post: Is this very contagious and should we be worried and if I get it will it go away with treatment or is this something we live with for the rest of our lives. How would I get it from a retail store? I use to carry dirty hangers and move clothes around and your hands would get all black from it.

No,
It is not a very contagious disease unless you are exposed to the secretions directly.
it does go away with treatment and you are not likely to suffer from if for life,
The secretions can be acquired from contact with the secretions and these may be present in the clothes that you are handling,

All the best,
