i cut my pinkie finger through the nail and to the tip on one side. I have stopped most of the bleeding and put ice on it. I have bandaged it and then put a rubber finger over it. Anything else to do?

Hi,

Ice should only be applied for about 10 minutes every hour. Too much on a fingertip can cause frostbite and you don't want to lose the tip of the finger. Try to keep you hand above your heart as much as possible to help with the bleeding and the swelling. Be sure to check the rubber finer to make sure it is bot too tight if the finger swells. You can take whatever over the counter pain reliever you normally use for the pain. If it won't stop bleeding, swells badly, or does not show signs of beginning to heal in a day or so, you will need to see your doctor.
