Mysterious sun-prone skin
Sent to Health Experts March 18 08:30 PM

I have a V-shaped area on my upper chest right underneath my neck that seems to ALWAYS be very red. I use lots of sunscreen but it doesn't make any difference. It seems this area of my body is aging more rapidly than the rest, the skin always looks decidedly more sun-damaged. Why would this be? Is the skin there very delicate and more prone to getting sunburned? Why is it just this area that seems to be over reacting to the sun? At any given time I can press my finger on the skin and it leaves a white imprint. I'm beginning to feel very self-conscious about it.
If it looks bad now I can only imagine how ravaged my skin will be years from now.

the décolletage is very sensitive to damaging effects of sun and will age faster.  You need to exfolliate that area frequently and apply a stronger sun screen.  Some of the damage may be irreversible.  I would recommend that you see an esthetician who can help you repair this area and protect in the future.  Good Luck!  Nurse Hope

Reply to nursehope's Post: Thank you for your response. I never knew to exfoliate that area, I was afraid it would damage it further. Well I will try those recommendations! There must be a sunscreen on the market that is more powerful than most, I try to buy the highest SPFs I can find. Bullfrog is one I've tried but didn't seem to help much. Is there a brand you could recommend that is extra-effective? -Lori
