According to the mayo clinic, this type of ridges is not cause for concern. It can come with age. It's actually when the ridges become horizontal is when one needs to follow up with their doctor. However, some do say with it being vertical it may be due to nails becoming very dry, which could be caused by using a lot of cleaners, keeping hands in water for a long period of time etc. or even due to being anemic or lack of Vitamin C or even B-12. Vertical nails can also be heredity as well.
Just to be on the safe side though, I would at least see your doctor for a full blood work up, especially if it's been a year or more. If there is anemia or any lack of electrolytes etc. this will show up.
