My son broke the end of his left middle finger while playing football. We can see the chip broken out of the end of his finger. Doctor splinted it 5 weeks ago and still no change. He has a pressure sore from the splint. Doctor decided to do surgery to put a pin in it but he won't guarantee he can get a pin in the tiny little chip. The doctor thinks the bone is starting to try and push it way out of the bottom of his finger. Is surgery the right way to go and what does that involve? What is the healing time, does the pin stay in, since its not a guarantee should we go with surgery?
