Sent to Health Experts December 15, 2007 9:47 a.m.

My nephew cut his finger with a very sharp knife 2 days ago. Last night we noticed that the cut looks as if the flesh inside is starting to push the skin apart. My mother-in-law said it is called "wild flesh" and she said to put alcum powder on it.

Optional Information:
Female, Age: 28, Pennsylvania

Already Tried:
wrapped the finger, and put antibiotic ointment on it.

It looks like the inside flesh of his finger is starting to swell up and out of the middle of the cut.

Hi, this cut wound may get infected if it is not properly treated. As the inside flesh has come out, there is every chance of getting an infection. You should take your kid to the ER and get the wound properly cleaned with antiseptics, apply gauze pad and consult if the wound requires stitching for faster healing and avoiding secondary infection.
