Finger laceration. Uncontrolled bleeding because of cumadin medicaton. Should you ever run you finger under water to stop bleeding?

That is not too helpful as it will rinse off any clotting that has already taken place. Try elevating the hand above the level of the heart and put pressure at the sides of the finger or for short periods at the wrist pulse points. You can also use ice on the area, but wrap with a towel or washcloth to prevent "frostbite."
