Question

What are the harmful side effects of vasodilation?

Sent to Health Experts October 29, 2005 10:55 p.m.

I recently started taking a dietary supplement and very happy with results. However, I have started having headaches. Could be a coincidence. The online service for the supplement provider said I could be suffering from vasodilation. They suggested cutting my usage in half and if that didn't stop the headaches then to discontinue use altogether. I know what vasodilation is but would like to know what harm could be cause by this. Thanks.

Hi Miracle

Vasodilation can cause headaches. Vasodilation can also lead to low blood pressure, which would predispose one to fainting and dizzy spells. Especially while working out, or when standing from a lying position.

Yes, you can try cutting it in half and see if that helps. If not, I would stop taking it.

Hope that helps, and I'm here for you if you have more questions.

Kerry

Thanks for answering my question Kerry. Other than the low blood pressure (which could lead to dizziness and possible fainting) is there anything else I should be aware of; if indeed this is vasodilation? Anything as serious as stroke or heart attack? I was told to cut back to smaller dosage and then to increase to max dosage and see if that helped. I just want to make sure I am not causing myself any real harm. Thanks again.
