Infertility and Coffee
Sent to Health Experts April 25 09:56 AM

I have been drinking coffee for many, many years. I have averaged around 3 cups a day as an adult; however, I began drinking coffee as a small child (under 5). I know that seems weird, but it is true. Here is my question. I have been trying to have a baby for a long time. We are about to start an IVF cycle. I have cut my coffee down significantly to 1 cup of half-caffeinated coffee. I want to quit completely before our IVF cycle to increase our chances of conceiving. However, it is very difficult. I have severe withdrawal issues, namely, very bad headaches and feeling very sluggish all the time.   My diet is now very good and I drink lots of water. But I have to take it slow quitting, the withdrawals greatly affect my ability to function. How long will all this take? How long does the long term effect of coffee use last? I guess my specific question would be:   How long should I be off coffee or caffeine to achieve the maximum effect of my IVF cycle?   How many months/weeks/days before the cycle should my last caffeine intake be, to achieve the best chance at positive result? Thank you!
