Why am I getting violent headaches that wake me up in the ...

Sent to Health Experts July 22 04:14 PM

Why am I getting violent headaches that wake me up in the middle of the night? I have allergies and take Singulair and take two allergy shots once a month. I am also on Pozac(20 mg.) daily. That's it. These headaches come about twice a month and they sometimes make me sick to my stomach. Light hurts my eyes - even a nightlite. The pain radiates around to the back of my head and it just hurts everywhere. I don't think it's a sinus headache because I've had those before.   I've also been on the Prozac for awhile and I don't think it's that. Any ideas?

Reply to Dr AMIT MUNJAL's Post: I am allergic to chicken and pork.

The whole head hurts - especially in the back.

No known sinus infections, etc.

I wear glasses, but no strain. I have them checked regularly.

No vertigo. I've had that and I'm sure I don't have it right now.

Reply to Dr AMIT MUNJAL's Post: No particular stresses that would make me sick. Just normal life goings on.

I have no cervical problems. Had a hysterectomy years ago.

I've had three of these headaches in the past three weeks and only about 2 - 3 of them per year in the past. I have not kept a journal or log to be able to tell what I've eaten to see if there's any correlation.

Thanks.

I've noticed these headaches a few times a year since the last maybe 3 years.

Reply to Dr AMIT MUNJAL's Post: Yes, a sensitivity to light really bothers me when I get these headaches.

Yes, I get nausea and sometimes even have vomitting.

Not sure, because I've never kept a journal.

Not really for the nighttime headaches. I'm asleep and they wake me up. In the daytime, I sometimes can tell a headache is coming on because I do get a vision impairment like waves or split vision. If I go to a quiet, dark place and take some tylenol, it goes away. But the nighttime headaches are different.

Could the nighttime headaches be a type of migraine?

The symptoms you give clearly indicate towards migraine.

The night time head ache can be migraine.

Reply to Dr AMIT MUNJAL's Post: I think so, too. Your site that leads me to the "causes" for headaches is invaluable. I will read it in detail and see my doctor now that I am better informed.

Thanks for your help. It was certainly worth the $8.00 to get zeroed in on my problem.

Many thanks.
