I have several things going on that are unexplained. I am 42 years old and had a complete hysterectomy 5 years ago. I have started having headaches that I wake up with but seem to get better as the day goes on. I have sweats and cold chills off and on all day, no appetite at all but don't seem to be losing any weight, feel very light headed off and on. I am not a smoker and have never been but keep having these coughing fits until I vomit and my throat is very sore but I have no other symptoms of a cold or sinus infection. Am I just getting old or is something really wrong with me?

Hello,

Your headaches could be a result of the shift of hormones due to your systerectomy. Are you taking HRT at this time? I had a hysterectomy and had the same problem with headaches. I took the very lowest dose of premarin for about six months which helped not only with the headaches, but with the hot flashes.

Do you have a post nasal drip? Allergies? These cold explain the coughing. Have you tried taking Claritin? This may help.

Do you suffer from heartburn? Acid reflux can cause coughing.

No, I'm taking any kind of hormone replacement at all. I did take Pemarine for about a year after my hysterectomy but then decided that I would rather try to do all natural things and have done well up to this point. So could it be that even though it's been 5 years that I'm having hormonal symptoms now????? I really never had any problems at all after my surgery. Also as far as the coughing goes.....I have no allergies that I'm aware of or any other kinds of symptoms. No runny nose, no stuffy nose, itchy eyes, nothing. I don't suffer from heartburn either. I was wondering if maybe my sugar was a little high or something. I had shingles in the spring and while I was on the steroids for the itching at one point I was told my sugar was a little high but it could be due to that and that I should have it checked again later. I have never done that. Could any of these symptoms be related????

Make sure to have your blood sugar checked again, but this wouldn't cause you to have the coughing.

I would try some Claritin to see if that helps your coughing. If it still persists, I would make an appointment with an ENT (ear, nose & throat) specialist for an exam.

I went off the premarin and still had problems with headaches, hot flashes, etc. I went back on it, but took one tablet every other day which seemed to help.

I had my hysterectomy ten years ago, but had hormonal symptoms up until a year ago. Yoiu might want to talk to your dcotor or try some of the OTC herbal supplements to see if that helps.
