My husband has been expericing dizziness and headaches for the last few days. He is on high blood pressure medicine. We checked his blood pressure tonight at the hospital and it was 156 over 110. We have been checking it at stores the last few days and it has been running about the same. One was 172 over 108. Would his dizziness and headaches have anything to do with the HBP?

Hello,

Yes, hypertension can cause his symptoms. Is he on any HBP medication?

Reply to Deborah's Post: Yes he is on HBP medication, should we be doing anything about this. We just went to the local hospital and they took his blood pressure and sent us on our way, they did not seem like it was a big deal, I told them that he was dizzy. I guess my question is really about the dizziness, should we be concerned or doing something tonight about it? I have been trying to find information about how worried or concerned we should be.

It is of concern, but it can wait until the morning not unless he is experiencing chest pain or shortness of breath.

His blood pressure medication needs to be adjusted as it is not providing adequate coverage to keep his BP in a good range. This is a very common occurrence in some patients. Often, it takes a few different medications or a combination of medications to finally contol the BP.

Have him rest for this evening and call his doctor first thing in the morning so he can be seen and his medications be reviewed.
