Hello,
I believe that you are suffering from Migraine headaches. These headaches are localised on one side of the head , have a throbbing or sharp character and are frequently accompanied by certain symptoms known as 'aura. these include vision problems.
Breathing shallow means that your brains is getting less oxygen - another reason for the increase in intensity of your headache.
You will need to consult a neurologist for a proper diagnosis.
