Possible Heart Valve Disease/

Sent to Health Experts September 12 2005 at 1:39 PM

I recently had a echocardiogram done due to abnormal blood work, chest pain (crushing), shortness of breath, pain in neck, shoulders, arms, etc., even while at rest these symptoms occur. I am wondering if I don't have heart valve disease. I meet with my doctor on Wednesday but no one will tell me anything until then. I am driving myself crazy. I am only 24 years old (female).

Hi Shelly

Do you know what the abnormal blood work said?

Try not to stress over it. If it was a life threatening situation, they would not be making you wait until Wednesday.

It sounds more like ischemia to me than a heart valve issue. Ischemia is when the blood supply to the heart is reduced, causing the pain. It's much like when we exert other muscles and get that achy feeling. The heart is a muscle, so would do the same.

If you know the abnormal blood test results, perhaps sharing them here would help me give a more in depth answer.
