Hi. My mother is not feeling well and has some pressure and pain in her chest area. She's not sure if it's from a hernia, gall bladder or heart. It's been lingering all day. Pain/pressure in her upper right chest area. She has gas and is burping a lot. Also has some pain in her shoulder, back and up into her neck. Also has some pain in her teeth, but not sure if that could be from allergies. Her bp is approx. 170/82. We're not sure if we need to take her to a hospital or just keep her calm and see if the symptoms subside. We'd appreciate any advice that you could give us.

It could be either the gallbladder, acid reflux, or even a hernia. Her pain does seem to be pretty wide spread as well. It depends on the amount of pain she seems to be in, with a possible heart attack you don't want to wait until the pains get bad. If she has a regular physician I would keep her calm and give him a call and see if he feels she needs to go in. If these pains continue, grow worse, or she starts having more increase in her blood pressure I would suggest you take her to your local ER just to be on the safe side. If the symptoms seem to subside and you feel it could be acid reflux, which could cause check pains, gas, and regurgitation then I would suggest giving her something for the heartburn and see if this doesn't help some and make sure and make an appointment with her physician first thing Monday morning.

THanks for your quick reply. One more question? She says that the pain seems to be settling under her right shoulder blade. It seems to be a constant aching. Does that sound more like gall bladder?
