My mother recently was killed in an auto accident and on her medical records it reads that she lost 300 cc of blood. Is that considered a life threatening amount? How many cc's are in the humany body? approx.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear about your mother. Hope she did not suffer much. The human body contains approximately 6 quarts (or 5.6 liters) of blood. 300 cc of blood loss is NOT at all life threatening, in fact when you donate a bottle of blood around 350 ml is actually removed from your body without any sideeffects whatsoever. So that is NOT the reason for her death.

Also:

  • In one day, your blood travels nearly 12,000 miles.
  • Your heart beats around 35 million times per year.
  • Your heart pumps a million barrels of blood during the average lifetime -- enough to fill three supertankers.
