I was stabbed in the heart at the age of 8. Heart specialists told me I would never run, play basketball, ect. I am fine and can do all my normal activities. I occasinally get sharp chest pains(they feel like they are in my ribs not directly in my heart.) I went to the hospital and they said my heart looks healthy and I was not having a heart attack. They siad it could be cartilage build up and I may need surgery to remove some cartilage. I get these pains mostly at night and it hurts when I breathe. The other night I got the pains along with the cold sweats. The doctors at the hospital told me to take Ibuprofin when I get the pain. They took xrays and an ekg and said I was fine. I used to go to a heart specialist when I was younger and everthing was fine but I don't have health ins. or money to go see them again. Do I trust what the doctors told me or should I see a specialist?
