A am a 62yo female with CLL. Ria stage 00. My question, can I continue to exercise at a high level.. Heart rate 180 for 30- 40 min? The HR drops between 20 to 25 points after 1 min of rest. I exercise 6o min aerobic a day. I have a 2 hour bike race coming up. Can I safely do it?. I am a bit short of breath when exercising, no other systoms.

Being at the lowest ria stage you have the best numbers for someone in your situation. The problem is that hr of 180 places a significant oxygen demand on the body and the cardiovascular system. Since your red cells are the "boxcars" that carry the oxygen around the body your supply is already compromised. By significantly increasing demand you are setting yourself up for a problem with blood flow to the heart if there is even a slight chance of vascular disease. Your shortness of breath is a subjective symptom that tells you the oxygenation could be better. You might fair better by lowering your target heartrate.
