Blood Clot??

I have a swollen area on the inside of my left thigh just about 3 or so inches above my knee. It is warm to touch and is sore like a pulled muscle. I am concerned that it could be a blood clot or something serious. I am going to the Dr after the weekend but should i be more concerned about it and go to the ER? My mother tends to think it could be an infection under the skin. Please help ease my mind
