I have heart disease and had an abcessed tooth, and a root canal a few days ago. I took 2000 units of penecillin before the root canal. Three days later, I have an aching in my chest, left side and low grade fever. Could the abcess have still traveled to my heart? What would the symptoms be? How serious is this? What is it called? My dentist told me to get back on antibiotics, but I want to know more.
