is 153/97 considered to be high blood pressure?

Sent to Health Experts July 06 08:14 PM

I was just @ the clinic and they ran an ekg because of my blood pressure. Is this dangerous enough to cause concern? I am 36 and I have smoked for 20 years. I know that smoking is bad, and I should stop. But, am I a candidate for a heart attack or a stroke?

It is elevated but not to high to be dangerous. If it keeps going up you are probably a candidate. Your BP should not be more than 140/90.
