i had my heart checked and they said it was fine, but every nigfht when i sleep i wake up with a pulsing, tight, burning feeling on the left side of my chest. it's not painful just irritating. the feeling does not extend to my extremities but the feeling persists at night. it seems to happen when i lay down prone. when i sit up the feeling is less. what could be the cause of this?

Reply to James's Post: male. 36 years old. haven't tried anything.

i have had heartburn but this doesn't feel like it. i used to go through tums like candy.

test perfromed: blood tests, stress test, and sonogram i think. you know the thing they use to look at babies in the womb they used to check my heart. and x-rays. they said my heart looks very healthy. this was last november.

no nausea, vomiting or diarea.

not taking any medications.

no sweating or shortness of breath.

the pain is burning with alot of pressure on the left side of my chest. almost like someone blew up a hot balloon and put it under my skin below my pectoral muscle and it's trying to get out.

This doesn't sound like a heart related problem just by looking at your signs and symptoms. I would think that this is more of a gas, heartburn, GERD, or an esophageal ulcer. I recommend that you talk to your doctor about an endoscopy. This is a procedure where a small tube is used to look from your mouth all the way to the stomach. This should tell the doctor where to go next as far as treatment and will at least rule out the above conditions that I have mentioned. If this answer helps please hit the accept button. Thank you.
