Your ALT is about twice the normal high value. This can be
indicative of liver, kidney, or heart conditions as well as chemical
exposure or mononucleosis. He probably wants to do more testing
to see which organ might be involved.
The LDL which is not higher than normal could be a bit lower. If
he did not do the whole cholesterol screen, he may want to see what the
other numbers are to decide about diet and anticholesterol medications.
The blood sugar is fine, less than 120, so you don't have signs of diabetes.
I would go, get the tests done, and then worry! In the
meantime, try to be aware of what types of foods you eat in a typical
day, so that when he tries to change your diet vs give you a statin
drug, you will know what kind of diet you can or cannot stick to - if
you choose diet, it will be a lifelong commitment to change. Some
people can't drop the numbers with diet because of a heredity factor in
which the body produces too much cholesterol no matter what they
eat. That would be me - I am now on Lipitor with no problems
except remebering to take it! Good luck with the tests!
