Question

Strangley Dark Colored Blood

Sent to Health Experts September 23, 2006 8:29 p.m.

To start honestly, I am currently injecting morphine on a daily basis. I can't tell whether I'm addicted or not, but thats not the point. To start off, me and my girlfriend ussually inject a good 30-40 mg of morphine each time, and we use clean needles and the whole deal. To make sure we are in a vein, we pull the needle back and see the blood come back into the needle so we dont accidently shoot into the muscle and under the skin. Well, for the last few weeks, i noticed that her blood was the typical light red color of blood, not bright, just red. WHen he blood is in the needle, it quickly disolves into the rest of the water and turns in a pretty red color. When i see my blood go back into the needle, it is dark red, maroon kinda. Also, it looks as though i could see little cells everywhere (thats ridiculous because the cells are so small you cant see them with the naked eye, so its probably them bunching together) And when it does eventually mix with the solution, it is a very dark color. I wanted to know if that was just a variation in blood type, if my blood was not oxygenated or something, or if there is some sort of clotting or seriouse problem that i should get a blood test for. Now, this isnt a recent thing, my blood has always looked like that, and i feel fine. My veins are all nice and full, no clots. Im fine as far as physical activity, i dont have any symptoms that would lead me to believe i might have a heart problem... so whats the deal?

It may be that your oxygen content is lower than your girlfriends. I wouldn't worry about it too much if you aren't short of breath or anything like that. I hope you get some help with your problem before you get in trouble.
