I am 47, on Toprol 25 mg. for heart regulation,

I am 47, on Toprol 25 mg. for heart regulation, my blood pressure tends to get a little high sometimes too. Question, the other night I was exercising and was straining to push myself for more sit ups, when all of the sudden I felt like a rush to the back of my head and upper neck, then pain, like a severe headache all of the sudden. No dizziness, just pain.
I held my head and it went away in about a min. or two. Later it just felt sore. Like a strain.

I have no clue what happemed, but it was scary and severe. Any thoughts? Please advise.
