I'm scheduled to have an ablation because my blood work shows I'm anemic. This has been a chronic problem for me since I was in my late twenties, I am now 45. My last lab test showed my hemoglobin @11.9, hematocrit @ 34.3 and platelets @ 255 K/UL. I have tried iron supplements which do not seem to help much. My menstral flow has been heavier as I have gotten older. Is this the right thing to do? Both my sisters and brother show to have anemic tendencies. It seems that this procedure is not addressing the problem as to why I'm chronically anemic. Is this a precurser to disease, like diabetes or cancer?
