There are quite a few drugs in the class of statins. If zocor caused significant muscle weakness then I would not take it again, particularly if you noticed an improvement of these symptoms when the medication was stopped. If you are going to rechallenge yourself with a statin then having your doctor chose another from the list that are available would be a good idea.
In terms of the fluid around your ankles, it can come from your heart not pumping as effectively and a way to determine that would be with an ultrasound of the heart which would show how well the heart is pumping. Other symptoms would include shortness of breath or difficulty laying flat to sleep.
The other possible cause would be your veins are not as strong as they once were. Many people have venous insufficiency caused by aging and being overweight. You may have varicose veins as well. Compression stockings work well for this kind of swelling as well as elevating the feet. Typically the ankles will be less swollen in the morning and worse at the end of the day. This is unlikely related to stopping your zocor.
