How old should the fetus be before hearing a heart beat?

I'm about 5wks pregnant and the doctor says he is not hearing a heartbeat.

Dont be alarmed, usually the heartbeat is heard at around six weeks. Im sure the next time you have a sonogram the doctor will be able to hear it.
