Question

For the past month or so I have had numourous bouts

Sent to Health Experts November 19, 2007 10:59 p.m.

For the past month or so I have had numourous bouts on a daily basis of tingling feeling from both elbows down to both wrists and same feeling in upper chest area. I recently have had a yearly pysical, blood work ect done. The results of the blood work has not come back yet and a stress test is being set up for me. I am to turn 55 years of age next week and most of my life knock on wood I have been rather healthy for the most part. What is your thoughts on this ongoing and every day occurance. Is it my nerves or something else more drastic?

Dear Paul

Yes,It could be your nerves, stress and anxiety can cause numbness and tingling in the arms, hands, chest and legs even, but your doctor has to exclude any other cause like heart problems, hypertension and compression on a nerve root in the cervical spine and other causes .

Having a healthy life style will make me think about stress but we cant tell for sure.

You have to do the tests rule out other causes.

Dr.Zam

Dr. Zam, a key word in your response to my question to you,was compression on a nerve root in the cervical spine. I have altered my work schedule, working a four day week-12hours-eight-twelve-eight. I have difficulty sleeping, rolling side to side at times compressing my upper left chest to the point of somewhat pain and discomfort. Of course when I mentioned the tingling in my upper left chest to my personal doctor, a stress test and ekg was set up for me in a week. I did have a stress test two years ago and three years before that with another doctor when I hit 50. Both times I came up good, but I guess when I mentioned about the chest, my doctor is just taking all precautions. Take that into account and a good colon test two years ago I guess I'm considered rather healthy. But getting back to my situation, maybe a nerve has been pinched to the point of all this tingling that continues and I hope a remedy can occur.
