What do I make an appointment for when I see one? What problems must I be experiencing?

A proctologist treats probelems with the colon, rectum, and anus, rather than the upper parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Some examples of problems they would evaluate and treat are hemorrhoids, fissures, warts or itching of the perianal area, inflammation of the rectum, and the like. If you had rectal pain, bothersome hemorrhoids, bright red bleeding from the rectum and others as listed, you might consider seeing a proctologist.
