Hi,

You can put on a rubber glove and remove it manually. Later you will want to have an enema to break up the remaining feces still in the rectum.

Reply to Schuyler_ANP's Post: Nothing like this has ever happened to me. I am in so much pain now. However, I finally used 2 gloves, Vaseline, and a small spoon.

I am very health women (38) 5’3 – 128 lbs.; also I play all kinds of sports and go to the gym everyday.   I eat all kinds of fiber too. (Nothing has changed in my diet) I was on the toilet for 1 ½ try to get things working. Farther more, my hemorrhoids are VERY bad now.   I think I am going to call a Gastroenterology Doctor on Monday what do you think?

I think that's a wonderful idea., especially since you have such a healthy lifestyle. It isn't normal to have constipation so hard you can't pass it at your age. It isn't all that rare in the elderly population in nursing homes, so cleaning out a compaction with a well-gloved hand is something all nurses know. I know you're bound to be sore. Docusate sodium (Colace®) is a stool softener that will soften your stool but won't work as a laxative. There is also Pericolace® that has the laxative. Preparation H can help the hemorrhoids a little, along with warm sitz baths and Tucks cleaning pads. I'm so glad you were able to get it out without going to the hospital where they aren't a gentle as you would be with yourself.
