Bleeding from the anal area can be due to rectal_bleeding or Gastrointestinal Bleeding

(click the links above for more information)

Another possible reason could be hemorrhoids as well.

bright red blood usually suggest that the blood is coming from the lower part of the GI tract (large bowel or rectum).

If there is more than 2 tablespoons of blood, she needs to be seen. Otherwise, she can also get a mirror and try to look around the anal area and see if she can see any anal fissures or hemorrhoids. Some things that can cause is this include. Inadequate intake of fiber, sitting too long, straining to have a bowel movement or hard stools.

Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and please take a moment to leave me *POSITIVE* feedback.

She has been having pain in her back under her shoulder blade on the right side. She has seen a PA on Thursday and they said she had kidney infection

Kidney infection won't have anything to do with bleeding from the anal area.

You say she is having pain in her shoulder blade area, any pain in the upper right abdomen?

How much blood is there, do you know?

Also, is the blood just coming out on it's own or during a bowel movement?

Thanks

Blood is coming out on its own. She isn't certain on the amount just that it seems like a lot. She doesn't have her appendix

They don't have insurance so she is trying to put off the er - and I know from my own experience it is hard to judge how much blood you are loosing. It is red and she has passed a blood clot in the last hour an hour. Thanks

Thanks you are great for staying up so late and answering questions. They have had one health issue after the other since they have gotten married. Her husband had kidney cancer in May and just went back to work, now for the first time. He also broke his leg in September. She had endometrois and has had a complete hysterecomy and her appendix removed. She has had lot of reconstructive surgery. Believe me the ER's here won't give you a break and they won't set up affordable payments.   We just went through that and we paid $30,000 of their doctor bills last year. Their son got a reaction from his chicken pox shot and had french polio from it - the list only gets longer - take care and thank you again

Not sure where you live, but you may want to come to Florida for a visit. :) If nothing else, just some medical care.

I am so sorry to hear she and her husband is having such a hard time. She is very lucky to have you to help.

And you are welcome, I so wish I could just narrow it down to one thing. But as I'm sure you know, that without being seen, or even some tests, would be hard to do.

I do with you ALL the very best. If you should need anything in the future.. Please just ask. I'm usually on every day. Even if you want to keep me updated on this situation, I would appreciate that too.

Take care

Thank you again and we live in Minnesota. I did approve a payment to you and I know it isn't enough for all the information that you have given but thank you. It is very much appreciated. I need to go to bed so that I can take her to the doctor in the morning. I just hope that she will be ok so that I can take her. Her oldest child graduates from Preschool tomorrow so she wants to go to that. . Again thanks - Anita
