I just had a baby 2 weeks ago. In the past few days, I have developed an ENORMOUS hemorroid. It is extremely painful. Other than over the counter ointments, is there anything else I should be doing?

Hi,
Given the large nature of the hemorrhoid I would adivse the use of the following ...
  • ice packs help for the first 24 hours,
  • then warm sitz baths,
  • wiping with witch hazel pads,
  • Use of topical ointments that contain hydrocortisone can offer relief.
  • Again, preventing and treating constipation is important.
Often hemorrhoids resolve as your body recovers, however given the fact that it has been two weeks and there is significant pain, you may need to go to a docor for prescription treatment,
