For 5 days I have been experiencing a pain in my upper chest, as if I swallowed a big pill and it has gotten stuck. This pain is accompianed with burping and there is discomfort when eating and drinking. Is this heartburn?

This does sound like it may be a hiatal hernia from the symptoms you have listed.
