I have a question about my testicles rising up into my body during sex. I can push them back down into my scrotum but this does not feel normal and has only recently started to occur. It happens when my legs are spread apart. I thought it may be a hernia. Is this a normal thing for all men, or do I have a health problem and does it need immediate medical attention? Thank you for your help.

Hello and thank you for trusting us with your question.

What you are describing can definitely be because of an inguinal hernia. Hernias are not usually urgent unless some of the contents from your abdomen go through it and get trapped. In your case, since it is allowing your testicles to rise back into your abdomen it is probably safe to assume that the defect is large enough to not be an emergency.

However, I still advise you to go see a surgeon as soon as possible. He can further examine your hernia (in case it is a hernia), and discuss your different treatment options with you.

Reply to Ernesto Gutiérrez's Post: does this only happen if you have a hernia or could it happen and not be a hernia. My girlfriend is a pharmacist. Is there anything she could do to examine and predetermine before I go to a doctor. I do not currently have health insurance and cannot afford a full priced visit. Thank you again.

Relist: I still need help.
Does this happen to men when there is no hernia or does it mean I definitely have a condition?
