Hello my friend, :)

I understand your concern and I will do everything I can to help you. A hiatal hernia happens when a part of the stomach slides above the diaphragm. This can cause your stomach to become irritated from acid that flows back to your esophagus along with causing other problems. Some people are born with it while other people develop one as they get older. It can also be caused from extreme trauma to that area or surgery. Many people who have this are often mis diagnosed and just told they have heart burn.

The most severe symptoms to a hiatal hernia are extreme gerd or heartburn. Extreme burning in the chest especially when your laying down at night. Other symptoms include trouble swallowing and belching. These symptoms are most common after a meal.

The only cure that has been seen to last is surgery. There are temporary treatments that seem to help such as taking an over the counter antacid. You can also focus on eating 6 smaller meals per day instead of 3 larger meals. Don't go to bed until 2 to 3 hours after you have had your dinner. Smoking has also been seen to aggravate more stomach acid and worsen the condition. Losing weight has also been known to help people with their symptoms.

You will need to go the ER right away if you vomit blood or develop extreme chest pain followed by nausea, shortness of breath and profuse sweating. This means your condition has gotten so bad that surgery might be the only option. I recommend that you follow my health and wellness plan to see if that helps improve your symptoms. If you continue to get worse I recommend that you see a doctor to look into a more permanent treatment option.

Health and wellness plan for you

Before a meal take digestive enzymes. You can pick up a variety of enzymes at your local health food store. I take protease which is a wonderful enzyme for digestion. These enzymes are can be very helpful with improving your digestion and preventing some of your symptoms.

Take a whole food multi vitamin and mineral supplement. Be sure the vitamin supplement is whole food because your body knows how to use vitamins made from food better than man made chemical vitamins.

If you eat junk food stop. Acidic foods that contain saturated fats, too much salt, and fried foods are all bad for this condition. Be sure to eat a variety of fruits and veggies every day and don't eat fast food or junk food. If you drink soda, stop, if you eat mc donalds all the time then be sure to cut that out too. Switch to olive or grapeseed oils for cooking and read labels. Get rid of foods that contain high fructose corn syrup in it or bad fats.

If you drink coffee stop as this also aggravates a hiatal hernia. This was a hard one for my husband to give up but he also had a hiatal hernia and cutting out the coffee really helped him.

Drink 8 to 10 glasses of pure water each and every day.

I hope this helps. :) Please take a moment to click on ACCEPT otherwise please request more information. I am always here for you.

Have a wonderful day!

My worse systom is that when I try to burp, the gas does not come out but instead it somehow seriously affects my heart beat. My pulse counter tells me that the heart actually stopped and strated again. Do you know about this condition?

Hello my friend,

I am sorry that your experiencing this. When your heart actually stops and starts and you have an awareness of this its known as a heart palpation. Many people have heart palpations which can be aggravated by health conditions even a hiatal hernia. Heart palpations can also be affected by your diet, and certain medications. If you drink a lot of coffee this can also cause your heart to do this. People with anxiety related disorders also have heart palps more often as it can be aggravated by nervousness. Sometimes heart palpations can be caused by a defect in the heart but that is not as common. It is typically not serious and in some cases you may need to be on a beta blocker or some type of medication if you have a serious case of it. To find out if your have a mild or severe case you would need to be seen by a doctor. For most people the palps go away with diet and lifestyle improvements. Since you do have heart palpations I recommend that you see a doctor as soon as possible to be sure that its not a serious case. You can start improving your diet and your lifestyle by making the changes I recommended, and work with your doctor.

I hope this helps. Please take a moment to click on ACCEPT otherwise please request more information. I am always here for you.

Take care

Sarah :)
