I am a 39 yr old male and about a year ago I started to experience discomfort below the waist & above the groin on the right side. This discomfort is most noticable when sitting and is relieved when standing or lying down. This occured for about 2 weeks and then went away. This happened on about 4 other occasions since then each lasting about the same amount of time except for the most recent occurance which has been for the last 6 weeks on and off, and consitently for the last 2 weeks. I have been to a DR and he thought hernia and I had an ultrasound which did not show anything. The siutation has changed from discomfort to mild / moderate pain in that area and I am also now experienceing lower back pain and pain on the left side of the pelvic area. I am planning on having an MRI done next week (I am out of the country right now) and I am concerned as to if this progression of pain in terms of intensity and location is symptomatic of a hernia which has not been treated.

Hi

As you have been tested for hernia, So there are some other possibiltes which need to be checked.

Such pain can be due to any of these conditions-

Varicocele, Spermatocele, Orchitis. It may also be due to Infection or inflammation of testicles.

It may also be due to pelvic adhesions, which are fibrous bands that hold together parts that are usually separate

You can take over-the-counter pain relievers, like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

You need to be investiagted-

a urinalysis and urine culture a complete blood count, or CBC, to help diagnose an infection , CT scan, or MRI scan

Consult your Physician to get investigated and get treatment accordingly.
