Dr. Steve: Hi--this is Dr. Steve...is this Frances?
Customer (name blocked for privacy): yes it is
Dr. Steve: Welcome to Chat Frances.
Customer (name blocked for privacy): thank you
Dr. Steve: Can you precisely describe the "tag of skin" please?
Dr. Steve: [size; color; bloody; consistency, etc]
Customer (name blocked for privacy): it is hanging out of my rectum after bowel movements and feels solid almost like a droplet of ice would form
Dr. Steve: Does any blood, pus, or other liquid emanate from it?
Customer (name blocked for privacy): the size is small no pus but on occasion small amts of blood
Dr. Steve: I see
Dr. Steve: There are 3 major possibilities: 1. Lower rectal polyp
Dr. Steve: 2. Anorectal Hemorrhoid
Dr. Steve: 3. Anorectal skin tag
Customer (name blocked for privacy): sometimes before this came i would get horrible pain in my rectum almost like a stab witha knife
Dr. Steve: Unfortunately--only a direct visual/anorectal exam is likely to give accurate diagnosis
Dr. Steve: How long would pain last?....any other associated symptoms with the pain?
Customer (name blocked for privacy): ok i just thought you might give me an idea what the heck this is
Dr. Steve: Again--I stand by the 3 Conditions I listed above
Dr. Steve: A direct physical exam should clinch the accurate Diagnosis
Customer (name blocked for privacy): i had to take pain meds for it to leave. i have had polops in the past
Dr. Steve: I see
Dr. Steve: I recommend you see a doctor soon, to have it looked at
Customer (name blocked for privacy): could this be related to the hernia?
Dr. Steve: No--I strongly doubt it; that's a separate condition.
Customer (name blocked for privacy): what kind of doctor would you sugest?
Dr. Steve: Ideally--a Colorectal surgeon [in case it needs excision]
Dr. Steve: But--you can start with an FP or GP.
Customer (name blocked for privacy): ok thanks i will call one
Dr. Steve: You're welcome
Dr. Steve: Take care.
