In advanced stages of HIV yes. However this is only after the immune system has been run down to a degree that most all virus's of any type are subject to infect the person. Most person's with HIV have more severe medical conditions first.
Some of the signs and symptoms of HFMD may mimic HIV however. But more often then not it is not thought to be connected to HIV infection unless the person has tested positive already and has the diminished immune system.
Most all case's of HFMD are in young children and younger adults. Caused by a virus and spread by nose and throat discharges as well as feces.
In case your unaware you are contagious and subject to spread this to another from the first signs of symptoms up until the skin blisters and/or lesions disappear.
Good oral hygiene is recommended to control and keep this condition in check as there is no cure at the present time. It is recommended not to use aspirin but acetaminophen instead.
I would suggest that if your concerned about HIV infection (HFMD can be a STD) then go ahead and find someone to test you for this. It is a simple blood test and results now are rather quick inmost instances. Proper counseling beforehand of testing is recommended as well. Most test can be done free of charge at your local health department.
I hope that this has been of help to you. Also, there are many informative sites associated to HFMD on the web that may be found by any search engine.
