I want to know if it's possible to die from Multiple Sclerosis? If so what are some of the symptoms in the advance stages? My mother is 51 years of age and has had Multiple Sclerosis for over twenty years. She has had all types of treatment for this condition most medications made her worst. She mainly took Baclofen. A few years back she suffered a Brain Aneurysm where she has to date gone through three Brain sugeries. She has not recovered well enough to lead a normal life. She has a VP shunt in her head and Doctors say that the hydrocephaly is due to her M.S, she is also very contracted in her legs and in basically every joint in her body. She is no longer eating by mouth and is feed only by peg tube...this has been going on for nearly one year now. Her immune system is low and it's hard for her to fight infection. She has a Foyle Catheter in and on a daily contract UTI's and it's hard for her to combat them. She has a seizure disorder that is prevented with Tegretol and Gabapentin. Her vision is also bad. I want to know what are the advance stages of M.S and if she can live long under these conditions?
