Hello,

The usual causative agent for these abscesses is Staphylococcus aureus. I'm glad they are rupturing on their own. Frequently they must be opened by your medical provider in order to drain properly. Hot compresses and antibacterial ointment are exactly the right thing to do. Keeping the are covered except when tending to it will keep the skin soft and make it easier to rupture. It will also collect any drainage which contains the contagious agent. You may want to try an antibacterial soap in your shower just to add a little extra help. If they don't clear up with your conservative care, you should see your doctor for oral antibiotics to help.

The lump underneathe my arm is not an abscess. It comes and goes when my menstrual cycle is near. It's not hard, not painful, and hasn't changed in size. it's just there and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the abscess.

Is it possible that the lump can be cancerous although there are no other symptoms other than the abscess? or maybe a swollen gland?
