my tonge hurts and burns

i have some little blisters on my tonge and is very red and it hurts, and it burns, is there any thing over the counter that i can use?
My daughter(6) had them before, i told her it was from puting her dirty hands in her mouth, i kissed her tonge to make it feel better. now she is o.k. but i'm not
