back urine
Sent to Health Experts September 16 04:10 PM

Hi i asked a question about cloudy urine awhile back, I forgot to ask the most important reason I was asking the question hehe. I went again to have my urine evaluated today, they said it was clear, I have cloudy urine 5 to 7 times a week, Im concerned because each time ive went to have it tested, the urine wasnt cloudy at the time, does this make a difference in what shows up?

Cloudy urine usually means that it is high concentrated with proteins(after a good meal or after the night sleeping). Also it may show an infection from microbes but then you should have some other symptoms such pain when peeing, maybe fever, polyurea, dysurea etc. Finally sometimes dust can make a cloudy urine, especially when the sample is not given right after you get it, but over 30 minutes later. I personally believe it is proteins. If they told you it is clear, and an urine culture shows nothing then it is clear, believe it!

Yes. Old methods in this case may showed a false negative result. This cannot happen today. The new methods (ELISA or more new) are not affected by other substances such as proteins, hemoglobin etc (well, there is a limit of course). But actualy they are not affected. So do not really worry. To get sure about it, collect your urine and choose a clear sample to make the test again, asking for all the results! This time you are going to get sure you are healthy or not!

No I mean you should choose a clear sample. If the samples you gave were clear, then you should not make the test again. Practically the only problem that can happen is when you have a very cloudy sample that interfers with the substance youthe machine or the stick test if detecting but as I told you, new methods don't have this problem anymore. A clear sample cannot give a negative false result because they have high sensitivity and a small amount of the substance reacts in the test, showing anything pathogenic.
