Question

Blood in my throat

Sent to Health Experts April 27, 2004 12:28 p.m.

I’ve had a strange scrachy thing in my throat for a while, or never went away since I got that flu 5 months ago and last night I coughed and there was blood. I know it did'nt come from my lungs. It came deep in my throat, possibly my larnex area.

Hi there.. You may have a throat infection that has not properly healed or you may have a lesion in your throat, such as a polyp, that was made worse by your flu or even brought on by your flu, that began to bleed with your coughing. I doubt that the bleeding was from your larynx unless  your scratchy throat occurs primarily when you talk, which would point to some type of laryngeal lesion. You probably should go and see an ENT [ear, nose & throat] MD and let him check you out. Take care
