Question

I had an eye infection about a month ago, I was ...

Sent to Health Experts November 05, 2005 9:14 p.m.

I had an eye infection for two weeks about a month ago, I was given two types of eye drops/ointment antibiotics to clear it up-neither worked, but I developed a rash from both around my eyes-so i stopped using them-than it just went away with Visine and boric acid. Afterwards I developed a post nasal drip, now I'm coughing my brains out. Because I keep getting this tickle in the back of my throat, but a little lower. The only thing I bring up is a little spit.

Optional Information: Female , Age: 54
Already Tried: for cough and post nasal drip?
Robitussin
Theraflu melt strip
Listerine

ACCEPTED Check Mark

A post nasal drip will make you cough. You can get this from a cold or from allergies. There are many different types of Robitussin so I don't know what you tried. To stop the cough, you need to stop the drip. You many wish to try an antihistamine for this. If you don't get results, I would recommend that you see your doctor. Perhaps the eye infection cleared up so well with visine and boric acid because it was an allergy. Your doctor will be able to find out what is causing the post nasal drip and give you a stronger medicine. If this is helpful, please check accept. Best of luck.

I forgot, I did try an antihistamine-it did dry my sinuses out till I got a nose bleed everytime I used it. I also tried Flonase for allergies. I friend had a bottle they never used and gave it to me.
The first doctor told me I had a bacterial infection, and could not understand why the ointment did not work-so she gave me the drops, and they also did not owrk.
Could the bacteria have gone down into my lungs? I never had a cold or flu or any other symptoms.

I am puzzled by this-I never get sick...
