I was released from the hospital 6 days ago. I had my side drained and a central line during my stay. Now, I am experiencing pain in my side and shoulder. The pain worsens when I breathe in. Do I need to go to the hospital or will it resolve itself?

If your pain level has increased 6 days later from being released there could be complications even infection. I would suggest that if decreased and now has increased again that you go back to the hospital. If the pain has been bad since release and just not gotten any better then you contact your physician so he can do an exmaination to make sure everything is healing okay. Any redness or pain in the area of the line could mean infection so you want to consider this since it hurts even to breathe 6 days after release.

Reply to cheryl kauffman's Post: I needed to know if I should go to the ER tonight or not. I can't get ahold of my doctor and I am scared. I could have gotten this info from my doctor tomorrow.
