Typically home treatment works, but if it doesn't, prescription medications, such as eye ointments or eyedrops, may be needed. Home treatment includes warm, wet compresses applied 3 to 6 times a day. Make sure you wash your hands before doing this. Normal saline solution or rosewater can be instead of tap water to speed the healing process.
Nonprescription treatments available to relieve the discomfort of styes include:

Solutions, such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Wash and Collyrium Eye Wash.
Medicated pads, such as Ocusoft Lid Scrub and Stygiene.
