Dear R,

I had this done, and I have Lupus, and Fibromyalgia.

What areas did you have Lipo on? Demerol is not a very good pain medication. What parts of you back do you have pain? Do you have a fever, or any other strange symptoms like chills or flank pain?

I would see your regular doctor.

I can tell you, every person's immune response is different. There generally will be increase swelling, and risk for infection to the area you had done. Also, there seems to be increased formation of scar tissue. You need to massage the area with coco butter, at least 5 times a day, to help prevent scarring. If you still have incisions that are not healed, DO NOT up any creams to the incisions YET. You can use triple antibiotic ointment until then are totally healed. Unless your doctor says otherwise. You also need to keep the areas you had done, wrapped up. If it is the abdomen. You should be wearing an abdominal binder at all times ,to reduce swelling and scarring.

You can have an increase in your symptoms, due to the trama to your body!! I did, I had a very hard time with it, and have alot of scar tissue build up, and it has been 3 years now.

If you have more questions just ask me..Images available only to Customers.

Good luck and God Bless.

Reply to Cynd's Post: I am so happy to know someone who has had this done! I had abdomen, hips and flanks. My skin is extremely irritated from the binder, I have tried to massage but after a few seconds it really hurts, is this normal? Is using a heating pad ok, on my back?
I don't have the other pain or symptoms you ask and it is my lower and middle back and shoulder blade area. The skelexin seems to have no effect and neither does the sleeping pill, I have been off the demerol for almost 3 weeks. How long should I wear the binder? The last few days I have worn it roughly 18-20 hrs a day, otherwise I swell up!

Dear R,

The binder might have a latex elastic in it. SO, make sure you where something under it, like a satin camisole or even wrap yourself up in cotton kerlix bandage before you put it back on. I had this problem also. Your skin irritation is most likely due to this.

You need to wear it all the time for about 6 weeks. Most doctors will say to wear it as long as possible, to keep down the scarring. I would not use heating pad on the areas that were done, due to the increase in swelling it will cause you . Also can make your skin look mottled in color. You can put the heat on the areas of your back that were not done. Also, ONLY apply heat for a MAX of 20min at a time, and wait an hour then apply it again, due to the fact of blood vessel dilation to the area.

Your pain actually sounds more like it could be your stomach or gallbladder and might have nothing to do with it the Lipo. Demerol can cause this type to pain too!!

I would ask your doctor how he feels about you taking a Motrin type medication for your pain. It will decrease inflammation to the area as well as your pain.

Give it some time. They make it sound like it is NOTHING. In reality, it takes about 6 months for things to start to go back to normal. Images available only to Customers.

The doctor should give people the phone numbers of some other Lipo patients first, so patients can get a true feel for what they are getting themselves into!!

I hope this helps you.

God Bless.

Let me know if you need anything!!

If this helped you please hit the green accept and leave feedback. Thank you.

Reply to Cynd's Post: ok, now I am worried...stomach or gall bladder? How are they related to my back pain?

Your gallbladder, the main symptom is abdominal pain -- particularly after a fatty meal -- that is located on the upper right side of the abdomen. Occasionally, nausea and vomiting or fever may occur. With the pain moving into your upper back and shoulder at times.

Also the pain can be related to your kidneys. Like with Kidney infection or stones. On one or both sides of your upper back you will have: colicky (spasm-like) may(radiate) or move to lower areas in your flank, pelvis, groin, and genital area.

Also as you well know, FMS causes the same kind of back pain your describing. If you don't feel you have any of the other symptoms, of your stomach, kidney or gallbladder; I would say, it just might be an exacerbation of your FMS from the Lipo.

If you have a doctor you see for your FMS, I would make an appointment. You may need more follow up from the trauma of the surgery. If it is really from something more then your FMS, it will get progressively worse over the next few weeks. Then you would need to see your Primary doctor for blood work and testing to make sure the pain in NOT coming from your gallbladder, kidneys, or stomach.

Don't worry, it will just make your FMS worse. YOU know that stress causes it to get worse!!

Keep you chin up, you will get through this! God knows I did!! I really would NEVER have it done again! Images available only to Customers.
