REPLIED Check Mark

Pain here most often suggests a problem in the lower colon, where food waste is expelled. Possible causes include inflammatory bowel disease or an infection in the colon known as diverticulitis.

  • Crohn's disease

  • Diverticulitis
  • So if the pain you are feeling is related to the hysterectomy or the above is what you may need to find out. I would see your regular doctor for an evaluation as well vs going to the GYN at this point just rule out the above.

I have done both, seen gastro two weeks post op and
had colonoscpy just prior to surgery which ruled out and colon problems and have been told I have IBS. Just a worry wort. Would fever accompany infectioin?

Sometimes a fever will, but your own body will fight an infection as well. Generally a fever does indicate infection. Plus, did you get antibiotics after surgery as well? try to eat a bland diet for a few days and see how that goes. Avoid soda pop, anything that may produce gas. Sometimes gas build up could cause this as well. Some people have a harder time expelling this after surgery as well. But from seeing your doctor and seeing a gastro, sounds like you have your bases covered. If you are not, I would also use a moist heating pad on that area as well to see if that helps any and try not to over do it, but yet try to walk between resting. Plus it is good that you don't have a fever. So relax, because stress can keep things tensed up as well.

Hope this helps and that you are feeling back to your ole' self again soon.

    Relist: I still need help.
Today I am 4 weeks post op hysterectomy. I had a great weekend..............2 days no pain. Yesterday I started getting a little pain in my left abdomen again. Today I did a little work moving things around in my closet and the pain is back. I am having a difficult time believing this is a gastro problem since I don't see any signs immediately after eating. What could be causing this pain? No fever related to pain. I get so frightened when this happens. My Dr. is tired of my calls and office visits. He tells me to expect pain for 6-8 weeks, yet everything I read does not agree with his prognosis. Should I be worried????
