My two year old girl has mucus in her eye and her eye runs. She wakes up and her eye is shut dry and I have to gently wipe the hard stuff off. Its only one eye. I know some people wake up with mucus in their eye and all but is this normal, or is there something else I should be looking for?

Generally if this is one eye it indicates viral infection where antibiotics won't help this. You can hold a warm compress to her eye when she wakes up. Also if you want, you can get some chamomile tea (make a cup as if you were going to drink it) let it cool till warm.. take a cotton dip in the tea and wash her eye out with this from the inside out. (always use a new cotton ball) and repeat this... this will generally help as well on this and it does feel good since the eye is irritated.

Reply to Lindie's Post: How can I possible wipe my two year old(just turned two) eye from the inside out? I almost have to hold her down just to wash her face. And it won't stop that hard stuff from crusting on her eye like glue.

No, not inside out.. from the nose area to the check. from the inside corner to the outside corner. As far as the crust, you need to hold a warm wash cloth on her eye until it softens it up.
